FAQ

Enquiry and quotation questions

If yours isn't here, just ask our engineers.

What capacities and spans can EOTEC supply?

Our overhead cranes cover safe working loads from 0.5 t to 100 t and single-bridge spans up to around 40 m. Larger capacities and special designs are engineered on request.

Can you supply a hoisting unit without a crane?

Yes. Wire rope hoists, electric chain hoists and open winch units are available standalone — for new runways, monorails or to replace a hoist on an existing crane.

How long does a new crane project take?

Typical lead time is 8–14 weeks from approved drawings to installation, depending on capacity and specification. Installation on site usually takes a few days.

Do you service cranes from other manufacturers?

Yes. We inspect, maintain, repair and modernize cranes and hoists of most makes, including inverter, radio remote and control upgrades.

What should I send in a crane enquiry if I do not have all the measurements yet?

Send what you already know and leave the rest for the site survey. What you lift, the heaviest load, rough hall dimensions and how often the crane will work are enough to start. A building drawing or a few photos help, especially showing pipes or lights near the runway. The survey can establish most of the remaining details, so missing figures need not delay your first call.

What happens during a crane site survey?

We measure your hall, runway and loads, and agree with you the duty the crane must handle. This comes before any crane is recommended, because a crane that does not fit the hall is the most expensive mistake. Have someone available who knows the production routine and the heaviest lifts, since lift counts and typical loads come from the people who run the floor.

How does a crane quotation work, from first call to approved drawings?

We survey the hall and agree the duty, then our engineers calculate the crane and prepare the quotation. If you are undecided between single and double girder designs, both can be calculated for your hall as part of it. A layout drawing then goes to you for approval, and fabrication follows once it is agreed. The typical 8–14 week lead time runs from those approved drawings.

What should I send if my enquiry is about an existing crane?

Send the make, capacity, span and approximate age if you know them, a photo of the nameplate, and a description of the fault or the upgrade you have in mind, such as inverter drives, radio remote or a new hoist. We work on cranes and hoists of most makes and assess the crane on site. For a breakdown, call the 24/7 service line rather than emailing.
